HEAR WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY

about Stepping Forward Psychology's services

As a high school administrator, I value Sheila Chauvet’s expertise as a registered psychologist and experience working with children and teens both in schools and private practice. Sheila is

very approachable and connects easily with her clients and colleagues. She is a compassionate and effective advocate for children and families who understands the importance of establishing a support network for her clients. Sheila is very collaborative in

her practice and has skillfully led many successful case conferences with families, schools, and community agencies in support of student health and wellness. I am grateful for the exceptional support that Sheila Chauvet has provided to students, parents

and staff at my school over the years and will continue to recommend that families contact Sheila Chauvet at Stepping forward when in need of counselling support.

Stacy Johnson

Principal, St. Teresa Catholic Learning Centre

Our child has been struggling with emotion regulation since a very young age. We actively read and engaged in everything we could find online, using community and school supports to better understand and provide tools and skills that would endure.

In grade two, our child turned seven and began meeting with Sheila. The connection between the two of them was immediately a positive one as Sheila has a warm, engaging, reassuring personality which set our child and we as parents at ease. We always talk about Sheila as the person we can all open up to and share our feelings and struggles with. We have seen our child open up more than ever before by sharing her thoughts with Sheila, role playing alternate approaches to difficult situations, and growing in her ability to regulate through breathing, positive thinking, and learning to take a moment to ourselves to collect our thoughts and emotions. Sheila is patient, kind, understanding, knowledgeable, and has been instrumental in our journey to help our most precious gift to live a healthy emotionally balanced life.

Sheila provides professional, ethical, supportive and meaningful supervision for mental health professionals. As a masters in counselling student I was exceptionally lucky to have Sheila agree to supervision my internship hours. Sheila gave honest, pointed feedback, supported me through complex, difficult client situations and provided guidance for appropriate, ethical best practice. I continue to rely on Shelia and much of what I learned from her in my practice today.

My experience with Sheila as a my supervisor was so valuable, educational and supportive. The combination of her skill mastery, professionalism and commitment to high ethical standards make her a wonderful mentor to be guided by. Sheila’s extensive background as an educator is an exceptional benefit to those she supervises. Not only can she model and apply her skills as a psychologist with great efficacy, but she can truly teach in a way that nurtures the unique strengths and abilities of her supervisees. Her calm and caring approach is exemplary.

Angela Psalios

Registered Provisional Psychologist

Working with Sheila Chauvet as a psychologist in a school setting has been amazing.  Sheila's professionalism when interacting with staff, and her calming and open nature when working with students and parents, are definitely some of her strongest assets.  Sheila's excellent assessments and thorough  debriefings are the strongest I have been involved with in over 30 years of being in the teaching profession. I refer parents to Sheila for assessments and private counseling on a regular basis with consistent excellent feed back.

Sheila has been providing psychoeducational assessment for our students for many years. She immediately puts students, teachers, and parents at ease with her calm and kind demeanor. When debriefing with parents and teachers she is able to explain concepts in a clear and honest manner while consistently treating the children and their families with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Sheila has a unique way of engaging with the players and connecting with them one on one even though they are in a classroom setting.

I know the players leave each session with skills that will help them with hockey but also life skills that they will use in their everyday lives.

Sheila helps us build good hockey players and good human beings!

Manager, KC Hockey

Sheila has been such a positive support for our daughter. She connected well with her from the start, making progress we had no experienced before. She continues to help our daughter in her journey to develop the skills to better express herself and self-regulate the many emotions which are often overwhelming for her. Her kind demeanor and strong boundaries have been so helpful during challenging times. We feel truly blessed to have her as a support.

Sheila is very knowledgeable about the Sport’s culture. We have been able to excel in hockey individually and as a team by using Sheila’s  techniques and strategies.  These tools have allowed us to be mentally fit athletes. Sheila taught us that Mental Strength is just as crucial as Physical Strength when you are an elite athlete.  You have to trust in the process!!
